NIRSA

Want to know what NIRSA is? Are you a student looking for a graduate assistant position in Campus Recreation? What even goes on at regional and national conferences?

You’ve come to the right place! Through my experiences:

Currently, I’m completing my duties as one of the Graduate Assistants for Fitness and Wellness with the Department of Campus Recreation at Oakland University! My duties include (but aren’t limited to):

  • programming the group fitness schedule
  • walking programs
  • residence hall outreach programs
  • lunch n’ learns
  • health and wellness roundtables
  • success stories
  • employee fitness consultations
  • social media (blogging)
  • love your body week
  • wellness fair
  • newsletter/website content
  • great American smoke-out

I attend as many conferences as I can and review them afterwards; I enjoy networking with GA’s at other universities, as well as meeting with professionals who could potentially be a future employer! At the end of the day, these connections are so important to me as a future fitness and Campus Recreation professional. Through NIRSA, my goals are to get involved with:

  • the Fitness committee
  • the National Fitness & Wellness Institute

follow my professional journey as I make my own path in a leadership position in human resources where fitness, healthy living, and fashion are just as important as the team!
